Test Announcement
Friendly, light-touch support for people who may have a life-limiting illness, caring responsibilities, bereavement or other experiences connected with dying, death, loss and grief.
Life-limiting illness, caring responsibilities, dying, death and loss can all affect a person’s sense of connection to others. Companionship Volunteers offer social support reducing the risk of isolation and loneliness.
A volunteer will work alongside someone offering a listening ear, positive conversation and regular connection through home visits or phone calls or correspondence.
Support can take place face to face or remotely, depending on what the person needs and what is agreed with the Hospice team.
Time with someone new can bring welcome connection, especially when illness, caring or bereavement has made everyday life feel more isolated.
A volunteer can listen, chat or simply spend time alongside someone, responding sensitively to conversations about illness, caring, dying, death, loss and grief.
We care for people from across Hastings and Rother. From Camber in the east to Ticehurst in the north, Little Common and Cooden in the west, and everywhere in between.
Companionship Volunteer support is available to people already receiving Hospice services. A member of the care team can refer to the service and our Community Partnerships & Inclusion Team will then find a match with a suitable volunteer.
No. Companionship Volunteers provide non-clinical, social support. They are part of our Community Partnerships & Inclusion Team and are supported by our Compassionate Communities Coordinator.
Whether you’re seeking care and support, helping someone close to you or making a professional enquiry, our team can guide you to the right service.
